What This Position Is All About:

Responsible for maintaining HBC DB2 corporate database environment which consist of approximately 60% mainframe DB2 and 40% DB2 LUW.  The role will be focused on delivering robust, stable and reliable IBM DB2 solutions used to promote business operations and business strategies.  Work in team environment providing support for all DB2 databases, building and sharing knowledge. Leading team as subject matter expert for all HBC DB2 databases.

You Also Have:
  • 5+ years' experience as DB2 Database Administrator supporting large systems on mainframe and open systems
  • 3+ years' experience on DB2 V9 and up
  • 3+ years' experience using BMC Database tools
  • 3+ years' experience installing and patching DB2databases
  • 3+years' experience of TSO, JCL, SPUFI, and SQL
  • Retail industry experience preferred

As the Senior Database Administrator, You Will:

  • Work to become a subject matter expert for DB2 on the DBA team.  
  • Cross train other DBA's and work closely with both on and off shore to fully support DB2 environment.
  • Work on database improvements and strategy to upgrade all DB2 databases to supported release.  Participate in the future of the DB2 architecture and help develop and maintain DB2 database roadmap. Providing roadmap to help sunset DB2 as we migrate to more strategic database platform such as Oracle or MS SQL Server.
  • Design, implement and deploy DB2 solutions to achieve defined business goals.
  • Maintain skills in DB2 applications process design and configuration; DB2 application design, development, integration, testing and deployment; DB2 application technical architecture.
  • Adapt existing methods and procedures to create possible alternative solutions to moderately complex problems.
  • Understands the strategic direction set by senior management as it relates to team goals. 
  • Cater to DB2 AIC and Linux database administration in a infrastructure operations domain
  • Senior level experience with DB2 open systems skills on release management, patching, daily incidents remediation, reporting, and replication technologies
  • Coach, train , mentor , and shadow junior DBA in department and transfer DB2 admin skills
  • Senior level experience with DB2 open systems in trouble shooting production databases
  • Provide support for data manipulation between Development and Test environments
  • Foster strong business partner relationships by communicating in easy to understand retail business terms and backup communication with actions that result in high sense of urgency and extraordinary business confidence.
  • Drive performance through the following metrics: (1) focus on service desk ticket reduction, and reduced time to close open tickets/issues.  (2) Deliver projects on time. (3) Deliver projects that consistently make user expected SLAs.  (4) Deliver projects with thorough documentation and run books (easy identification of business impact of system failures).  (5) Provide 24X7 on-call production support for DB2 platform. (6) Maintain backup and recovery process, including Disaster Recovery.
